Tableau Public overview
Tableau Public is a free service that lets anyone publish interactive data visualizations to the web. Visualizations that have been published to Tableau Public ("vizzes") can be embeded into webpages and blogs, they can be shared via social media or email, and they can be made available for download to other users. Visualizations are created in the accompanying app Tableau Desktop Public edition (or another edition of Tableau Desktop) -- no programming skills are required. Tableau Public is for anyone interested in understanding data and sharing those findings as data visualizations with the world. Journalists, writers, bloggers, students, professors, hobbyists, critics, citizens, and more. As soon as a workbook is published to Tableau Public, the viz is accessible by anyone on the internet.

MU oddly doesn't at this time list Tableau Creator, which is required for building visualizations that can be shared by Tableau Public. Tableau Creator is subscription-ware starting at $70 per user per month. There is a free trial available. See the developer's website for details.

I meet all the system requirements and have tried installing Tableau on my Mac. It says it installed successfully but blows up as soon as I launch the app. I am disappointed

This looks like a very useful app. Will have to give it a good run through.
By the way, there are many how-to videos on YouTube for this (e.g., search Tableau Public).

Very interested in this app, interface is nice and modern. I will be testing it when I get back to the office. How do you find it compare to big names like SAS and Cognos?
